The Hallock-Wehmann Award recognizes a level of commitment to sight and hearing conservation that our founders Lions Bill Hallock & George Wehmann, envisioned for our communities.
Where there’s a need there’s a lion-- Lions Bill and George saw a need to fight blindness and deafness in thier communities by providing sight and hearing assistance to those afflicted with vision and hearing impairments. The Lions Eye Bank was initially run out of Lion Bill Hallock’s home until 1985. We then partnered with St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center to house and manage the Eye Bank. They started a legacy that lives on in the work that Lions Envision Sight does every day through the Eye Bank and Community programs.
